Beach FAQ

Are the sunbeds and umbrellas free?

No, sunbeds and umbrellas are paid services managed by the municipality. The price is usually around €7-€8 per day for a sunbed and the same for an umbrella. However, you are free to bring your own towel and umbrella to the public zones.

Is the sand soft?

The sand in Lloret (and most of Costa Brava) is famous for being slightly coarse, often called "golden granite sand." The huge advantage is that it doesn't stick to your body like powder sand, and the water stays crystal clear!

Can I drink alcohol on the beach?

Drinking alcohol on the beach (outside of the licensed beach bars/chiringuitos) is prohibited by local laws. Police patrol the beaches frequently, especially in summer, and fines can be issued.

Is it safe to swim?

Yes, the main beaches (Lloret and Fenals) have lifeguard services (Red Cross) during the summer season (typically 10:00 - 18:00). Always check the flag color: Green (Safe), Yellow (Caution), Red (Swimming Forbidden).
